Abstract
The present experiment employed compound stimuli to investigate variables influencing attending behavior. Chinese characters with the radical or without the radical were used as compound stimuli. The presented as a matching-to-sample task. Participants were randomly assigned to two different groups. Both groups were exposed to pre-sorting of stimuli with and without the radical and MTS training including stimuli with the radical. Group 1 had two sorting test of stimuli with and without the radical, followed by MTS testing including stimuli with the radical and post-sorting of stimuli with and without the radical. Group 2 had MTS testing including stimuli with the radical, two sorting tests of stimuli with and without the radical, followed by post-sorting of stimuli with and without the radical.
