Abstract
By means of discussing similarities and differences between the disciplines of behavior analysis, psychology and neuroscience, the symposium sheds light on what behavioral scientists ought to do and ought to avoid in their research practices. Advantages and disadvantages of different research designs and methods of analysis are discussed, as well as, the need to replicate results. Are statistical analyses and single subject designs compatible? Are they needed? Which methods are most effective for gaining an understanding of behavior; which methods are most effective for getting funding? What methods allows for what degree of confidence in our results? This symposium presents a critical view on a variety of methods used in behavior analysis, neurosciences and psychology, all aiming at to predicting, explaining or controlling behavior. The symposium will be held in English.
